Many, if not all of you, are approaching the end of the school year and hopefully will be graduating or moving to the next grade level. As the last days of school are fast approaching, do you begin to think about the beginning of the next school year? Do you think about where you were in your life before compared to where you are now? Do you notice a difference? Have you grown in any way? Have you really learned something in school and in life? Are you just going through the motions or do you have a plan? What is the next step on this journey called life? These are the many questions that can go through your mind either now or through the summer. But my question to you is, can you answer them truthfully and be happy with your answers?? I believe that it is only at the end of a season that you can look back at the beginning and see where changes or alterations could/should have been made. As you look back, are there changes that you could have made? Have you truly learned from your mistakes? Have you grown as a result of it??
We have all messed up, but as we take an introspective look into our lives we find that we really do not learn from our mistakes. Many of us will make that same exact mistake again next year and probably the year after that. As we try to live better lives, lives without regret, we will face many obstacles that we will have to overcome. And many of us will overcome these obstacles. It just may take you longer than others depending on your approach to your situation. But I want to encourage you. No matter what the situation may be, don?t give up. You can make it if you trust God and not lean on your own understanding. I can quote scripture after scripture so that you can see what I?m talking about from a biblical stand point but I believe that you understand.
Many people say ?practice makes perfect?. But that is untrue. Practice does not make perfect, ?practice makes permanent.? Imagine I am working toward being a pianist and I continue to practice the piano hitting the wrong keys. After awhile of practicing like that, that will be the only way I know how to play and it will become permanent in my mind. Now, if I practice the piano, learn things, and continue to make adjustments, I will ultimately become the pianist that I want to be. I said all that to say, for all the things in your life that you want to change or adjust, and as you begin to put a plan into action and work on that plan, continue to make adjustments over that course of action so that you are not practicing the wrong thing.
As we move into the summer season, a time of boredom for many of you. Take a look at where you want to be ten years from now, and the process that you will have to go through to get there. Begin to work on it now. Your future will be what you make of your life now. What decisions will you make?? I hope your dreams take you to the corners of your smiles, to the highest of your hopes, to the windows of your opportunities, and to the most special places your heart has ever known.
